About The Don Bosco Senior Center

For over 20 years, the Don Bosco Senior Center has been helping seniors age 60 and over and adults with disabilities continue leading vibrant, independent lives by providing meals, transportation, fellowship, and activities that promote health, education, and recreation. It is the largest, most comprehensive senior center in the Greater Kansas City area. Complimentary handicap accessible transportation is provided daily to and from homes and for scheduled outings.

At The Senior Center

Services and programs are offered five days a week at the Senior Center. Handicap accessible transportation is provided daily to and from homes. At the center, visitors look forward to:

Nutritious Meals

A hot, nutritionally-balanced lunch is provided Monday through Friday in the Center’s dining room  (voluntary donations are accepted)

Exercise & Classes

Yoga, tai chi, ballroom dancing and zumba classes, and a Bowflex, treadmill, and other equipment are available

Health & Education

Blood pressure and other medical screenings, flu shots, health improvement studies, and more

Recreational Activities

Card games, puzzles, billiards, bingo, and movies

Educational Opportunities

Health and financial presentations, computer lab and classes, and crafts

Special Celebrations

Birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and dances

Seniors in the Community

The Senior Center arranges for shopping trips and fun excursions for Center particpants to enjoy. Handicap accessible transportation is provided.

Regularly scheduled trips to grocery and discount stores

Excursions

Various trips are arranged such as visits to the American Royal, ballet performances, Holiday lights tour, museum visits, community celebrations, and more

Services for the Homebound

The Senior Center also helps those who are deemed home bound by a physician or social worker to receive services they desperately need.

Meals on Wheels

Hot, nutritious meals are delivered to the home bound providing not only food, but also a regular “check-in” by the meal drivers

Case Management

This dedicated staff member connects home bound clients to service-providers such as home repair companies and home health agencies
